Happy Birthday Mom - one day late

I thought someone would have posted this yesterday but I guess it should have been me. We did call but no one was there. It sounds like Mom and Dad were on another one of thier mystery vacations...Hope it was fun!!

The cold is finally wearing off but there is still lots of snow. Today was the first day I was able to finally go for a run outside. It has been several weeks of running on the treadmill (yuk!) Liz had more of a birthday weekend. We celebrated Friday at home (with chili and cornbread!!!) then wend out to dinner on Saturday and had a birthday cake on Sunday.

Hey, what's wrong with running in the cold? I went on Monday while it was 6 degrees. I even took off my gloves and hat for a while. I did get some little icicles on my eyelashes and eyebrows.

Its not the cold but the snow. They haven't cleared any of the sidewalks becasue all the snow from the roads is covering them. Then most of the roads are covered in ice. They brought in front loaders and dumptrucks to haul all the snow away on the main roads. The cold just hasn't let the snow melt yet.

Hey - Nate wonders why he is a "no one was there" - I guess you meant the "old folks" were not there. Well guess that was on Sunday when Bryce called - no one was here when he called on my birthday.

During the weekend Dad and I were out tooling (that really means to 'drive around') the North Bay: went to see Lake Berryessa but it was diffcult to see from the road and didn't have anything in the way of hiking trails. I guess it's really a boat Lake. Maybe in the summer we'll go back.

Thanks to everyone for the fun birthday gifts. It was a fun birthday. I wanted to have Shrimp Scampi (that's actually shrimp shrimp because scampi mean shrimp in Italian - did you know that?) So we went out to eat. It was good - Dad brought home an ice-cream cake so we came back to eat some thick slices.

There you have it! The whole story.
