Memorial Day

Dad and I had a nice memorial day. We went - once again - to the memorial program at Los Gatos cemetery; put some nice flowers on Emily's grandparent's grave. The program is always fun with band music - talks (this year by 4 "waves" - they were really fun) plus wreath placing, dove release, gun salutes, & of course a well done flag ceremony: plus free food. Hot dogs, doughnuts and drinks and flags for everyone (we also put our flags on the Burton's graves.

Lots of nice people there.

Here's a patriotic picture of Dad/Grandpa. You don't see this everyday!!! It was taken at the Empire State building - at about 1:30 in the morning. We didn't waste our time while in New York City - used every minute.

Nice. I'll have to post some pictures I took of us visiting the Hales and Burrows graves with Simon.

The sign in the background seems appropriate for Dad in his hat "not just for kids".

Em was really touched that you visited her grandparents' graves. She was closer to her grandmother than just about anyone.

We've been there for three years in a row -- but this year we took better flowers, mainly because the roses in our yard are nice this year - we've always taken our flags over to their graves & last year some flowers -- we're very good at finding their graves.
